North East
While there are fewer dude ranches and horse ranches in the north east than even the south east there are still some to be had. Horses are quite necessary to some individuals as well for spiritual reasons. The Amish, for instance, still plant and plow with horses and use them for primary transportation. While they largely raise their own animals that doesn't stop them admiring a fine horse elsewhere when they travel through.Horse ranches in the north east most raise horses to sell elsewhere or for smaller cattle ranches that do exist there. Horses are mostly used for show up in the north east, however. They feature in parades frequently, and are used for commercial advertisement purposes. They are useful and beautiful animals even then and the horse ranches in the area specialize in maintaining their population in viable numbers that are healthy and capable.
The dude ranches in the area generally focus on being part of wider communities like Colonial Williamsburg. The small horse ranches provide most of the animal labor in that historically based town. Similar less known locations throughout the north east require horses for like purposes and there are always going to be individuals that seek out a well trained and properly groomed horse to add to their private stables. Not every dude ranch is part of a larger community though and many smaller ones exist that are more than happy to draw in tourists and free labor alike in their continual service to the horse loving community.
Horse ranches in the north east also provide a great deal of the racing horses that can be found as they have more time to breed them for speed and beauty instead of strength and durability like working ranches will do.
